Autonomous IoT nodes

Autonomous nodes with both sensing and actuating capabilities might significantly increase the impact of Internet of Things (IoT): to this end we are studying a smart powerless and wireless IoT node with actuator controlling capabilities. The research is carried out in the framework of joint ST-ARCES laboratory with the cooperation of researchers of different scientific areas (microelectronic, electronic circuit and system design, and computer science).

Example application is smart building. For cost and interior design reasons, existing and new buildings require fully unobtrusive solutions. We are therefore studying actuators that do not require any wire to be powered or to exchange appropriate information with a remote controller.
